“Life in a hat is much more fun!”
Jess’ love of hats began at an early age. Her first hat party was at the age of seven, and from that moment, she discovered the transformative power of dressing up. Growing up in Winchester with a mother who loved to make all manner of things, Jess was regularly surrounded by craftsmanship and creativity. She quickly realised that dressing up and finishing an outfit with a hat gave her a sense of joy and confidence. “It was a feeling that happened inside, inexplicable but strong”. Jess absolutely believes that hats have the power to transform your style and mood, and an outfit is never complete without one.
Jess’ work regularly appears in leading fashion publications, including Vogue, Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar, as well as newspapers such as The Telegraph, The Daily Mail, & The Sunday Times. During her career as a milliner, she has collaborated with fashion houses including Emilia Wickstead, Alexander McQueen, Jigsaw, Jaeger, Cefinn, Anna Mason and Lisou London.
After training under the renowned Edwina Ibbotson, Jess established herself as one of London’s leading milliners. Now based in Notting Hill and an active member of the British Hat Guild, she has spent more than three decades creating couture headpieces for the fashion elite. Her designs have adorned the heads of rockstars and royalty, from Madonna and Jane Fonda to some of the most prominent members of the British Royal family.
Jess’ biggest honour to date was being asked to create the bespoke silver headpieces worn by Catherine, Princess of Wales and Princess Charlotte for the Coronation of King Charles III. The embellished tiaras were a very special commission, made from scratch in collaboration with Alexander McQueen and have garnered international attention and press coverage. The outfit has gone down in history as one of The Princess of Wales’ most memorable fashion moments.
Today, after more than 25 years as a couture milliner for the fashion elite, Jess is passionate about bringing the joy of beautiful millinery to a wider audience. Jess’ online brand offers impeccably crafted hats with a modern edge, designed for the sleek, sophisticated woman who wants something special for everyday wear.
